Sphere Las Vegas: The World’s Largest Slot Machine
The world's largest slot machine debuted on the Sphere during the 2024 F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix weekend.
The Mill joined R&R Partners and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority to reimagine the Sphere as the world's largest slot machine—a jaw-dropping centerpiece to welcome visitors to the F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix. Designed with dynamic win-and-loss states, this animation played out across four distinct perspectives—east, west, north, and even from above. A true spectacle to see in-person, it captivated fans, sparking a frenzy to capture and share the perfect photo every time the reels spun into action.

The slot machine on the Sphere was designed as a triptych, featuring three optimal viewing angles along with a logo on the top. Previz animations provided by Sphere.
My early concept art imagined installations placed throughout Las Vegas during F1 weekend, giving lucky visitors the chance to play along with the world’s largest slot machine. If their spin matched the one on the Sphere, they’d win big. In the end, Vegas gambling laws shut it down. We came this close to creating the world’s first interactive Sphere experience!
